For further details, please contact the Czech National Bank directly.

Reproduction in printed media

Reproductions of valid banknotes and banknotes that can be exchanged for valid banknotes (hereinafter referred to as “banknotes”) and objects imitating banknotes (hereinafter referred to as “imitations of banknotes”) may be produced in the following cases:

  • One-sided reproductions of banknotes and imitations of banknotes whose size, the ratio of their sides being preserved, is at most 75% of the length and width of the original banknote or at least 125% of the length and width of the original banknote.
  • Two-sided reproductions of banknotes and imitations of banknotes whose size, the ratio of their sides being preserved, is at most 50% of the length and width of the original banknote or at least 200% of the length and width of the original banknote.
  • One-sided reproductions of banknotes and imitations of parts of banknotes which do not exceed 33% of the banknote’s area and are produced in a way that does not allow the whole banknote to be assembled from the individual parts.
  • One-sided reproductions of banknotes and imitations of banknotes of which the longer and shorter sides form an angle that is 20 degrees greater or less than 90 degrees.
  • Reproductions of banknotes and imitations of banknotes made of a material that cannot be mistaken for the original material, i.e. not paper, plastic or any other material used to produce banknotes.
  • Reproductions of individual design elements of banknotes where such a design element is not depicted on a background resembling a banknote.
Reproduction in electronic media

Reproductions of banknotes and imitations of banknotes may be produced provided that their resolution, the size of the banknote being preserved, does not exceed 72 dots per inch and that they are marked with either the word “Specimen” printed diagonally in an opaque colour and in a layer that cannot be separated from the image of the banknote, the length of the word being at least 75% of the longer side of the banknote and the height being at least 15% of the shorter side of the banknote, or with another word of the same dimensions and a similar meaning.
